Musical composition in a printed form is called sheet music. It consists of unbound sheets of paper with prints of songs. Not only are popular songs written on these sheets of paper; many classical songs and unfamiliar songs are printed in these sheets. When you speak of sheet music, you have to be aware that it constitutes of various kinds where songs to be played by a single instrument like piano and guitar are published in only one sheet. However if the song is to be played by different musicians, the musician’s part is printed on their own sheet; and this sheet is called ‘part’.

If a group of people with different instruments have to play a musical piece, then a ‘score’ is used where everything that has to be played is found on a single sheet. These scores are also found in various kinds like miniature score, full score, study score, piano score, short score and vocal score.
